“Zithoogte van motoren vergelijken? Hoezo?” Wij geven antwoord: omdat het niet voor iedere motorrijder vanzelfsprekend is om op iedere motor naar keuze te stappen en weg te rijden. Zeker voor kleine motorrijders kom je de issue genaamd zithoogte snel tegen.
Als kleine motorrijder heb je al snel last van bungelende benen. Of een tekort van 10 cm om met twee voeten op de grond te staan terwijl je op de motor zit. Maar ook als lange motorrijder kan de zithoogte van een motor een belangrijk punt zijn. Een motor die jou de ruimte geeft om je lange stelten kwijt te kunnen, kan immers net iets fijner zijn.
Om je meer inzicht te geven, hebben we van zoveel mogelijk motoren de zithoogte, het gewicht en het vermogen voor je op een rijtje gezet. Nu zegt dit niet alles over een motor natuurlijk. En of je bij de grond kunt met je voeten hangt niet enkel af van de zithoogte, De breedte van een motor en de zithouding op de motor spelen ook een rol. Dus staar je niet blind op deze gegevens. Zoals we eerder al zeiden, is het getalletje qua zithoogte alleen niet bepalend of je wel of niet op een motor kunt rijden. Ook de breedte van een motor speelt een grote rol. Velen van ons willen graag met twee voeten op de grond als we op een motorfiets zitten. En als het even kan, dan met platte voeten. Ben je onder de 1.70? Dan wordt dit al snel een uitdaging. Ben je onder de 1.60? Dan wordt het echt zoeken. Zeker als je een voorkeur hebt voor sportieve motoren zoals naked bikes of sportmotoren. En allroad / adventure motoren zijn al helemaal grote jongens.
In het Allroad / Adventure segment wordt hier al meer over nagedacht. Veel nieuwe motoren worden geproduceerd met een optie om de zithoogte aanzienlijk te verlagen. Of juist te verhogen. Want ook grote motorrijders worden niet vergeten.
In het Naked en Sport segment is dit minder aan de orde. En dat is ook niet heel gek. Met name voor racemotoren zit er vaak een limiet aan wat mogelijk is qua zithoogte. Immers worden deze motoren niet gemaakt voor comfort en rijgemak, maar voor zo hard mogelijk rijden. Niet enkel vooruit, maar vooral in bochten. Als je een motor drastisch verlaagd, wordt de bodemvrijheid steeds kleiner.
Als je op een sportmotor een bocht doorrijdt, wordt de hellingshoek steeds groter. Hierdoor komt het kuipwerk steeds dichter bij de grond. Daarom is het kuipwerk van een sportmotor ook smal aan de onderzijde en loopt de motor breder uit naar boven. Des te smaller onderaan, des te meer hellingshoek mogelijk is omdat de bodemvrijheid zo groot mogelijk blijft. Simpel gezegd; door dat design rijdt je je kuipwerk niet zomaar aan de grond.
Ook voor een naked bike is dat in principe een factor. Nu is de zithouding op een naked bike iets anders, daardoor je tijdens het sportieve rijden de motor in de bocht juist rechterop duwt en je zelf meer naast de motor gaat hangen. Op een racemotor doe je dit ook, maar door haar slanke design aan de onderzijde kun je simpelweg meer hellingshoek maken dan dat je op een naked bike kunt.
We snappen het natuurlijk heel goed dat je graag met twee voeten de grond wilt raken als je op een motor zit. Het geeft een vertrouwd en stabiel gevoel. Of je nu met twee platte voeten bij de grond kunt of met de bal van je voeten, het voelt comfy en veilig. Maar wat nou als dat niet lukt op je droommotor? En je door de motor te verlagen nog steeds niet bij de grond kunt? Laat je die droommotor dan aan je voorbij gaan?
Ons advies; niet doen. Laat die droommotor niet aan je voorbij gaan. Het klinkt misschien eng en spannend, maar je hoeft ècht niet met 2 voeten op de grond te kunnen om een motor te rijden. We gaan even een beroep doen op je logica. Wat doe je het meest met een motor? Rijden? Of stilstaan? Dat is rijden, toch?! En tijdens het rijden maakt het eigenlijk niet uit hoe hoog een motor is. Enkel bij het stilstaan kan het een probleem zijn.
Nu gaan we een tweede beroep doen, maar dit keer op je nuchterheid. Een probleem is pas een probleem als je het niet op kunt lossen. Ik hoor je hersens kraken. “Hoe kan ik dit dan oplossen, als ik met verlagen nog steeds niet bij de grond kom?!” Simpel: door je erbij neer te leggen dat je niet met twee voeten bij de grond kunt. En door jezelf trucjes aan te leren waardoor dat ook niet hoeft. Hoe je dat precies doet? Daarover lees je meer in onze blog over als kleine vrouw op een grote motor rijden.
Velen van ons vinden het prettig om met onze voeten op de grond te komen als we op een motor zitten. En dat is niet zo gek. Het voelt veilig, vertrouwd en stabiel. Één van de bepalende factoren is de zithoogte van een motor. In je zoektocht naar de juiste motor kan het fijn zijn om de zithoogte van motoren te vergelijken. Vandaar dat we dit overzicht hebben opgesteld.
Staar je alleen niet blind op de zithoogte van een motor. De breedte van een motor speelt ook een rol in of je wel of niet met je voeten op de grond kunt. En ook als je helemaal niet met twee voeten op de grond kunt, kun je die droommotor nog steeds rijden. Het vraagt alleen wat handigheid. Die handigheid hoef je niet direct te hebben. Dit moet je ontwikkelen. Is dat spannend? Soms. Is het haalbaar? Absoluut.
